How your sensitive information is protected when you obtain a Ship-It Rating
Note that some of these features will only be available when the online assessment tool is launched. Therefore this is the provisional set of protections which may be improved – we welcome your feedback.

No unsolicited ratings
Ratings are never given without the express permission of the firm or entity to be rated. Because assessments require some commercially sensitive information, when investors request that an entity is rated (a Sponsored Rating) the entity will be first contacted for consent.
Robust security
Our technical and organisational security policy will apply at all times and to all of your data, to defend you and us from any possible data breaches.
Public only by choice
When a rating is provided it may be kept private – shared with only selected parties – or made public. The rated entity is solely responsible for the decision on whether to be public. If it was asked to submit to an assessment and gave consent, the requester will be entitled to see the rating output.
Assessment inputs are not automatically outputs
Only the rating outputs, such as the designation and date and level of the assessment, are shared by SIRA. Under consent, more detailed reports can be purchased by investors, but, as with the assessments, the information that was provided to form them is not automatically available.
Anonymised use in statistics
SIRA will wish to improve the service by collecting and analysing data. To further protect the rated entities all data used in statistical analysis will be anonymised.
Whitelisting or blacklisting rating information receivers
If the rated entity has elected to keep the rating private there will be tools available to either exclude certain subscribers or to only share with their selected whitelisted subscribers.
Right to be forgotten
SIRA will comply with requests to release to the shared entity all data held on them and any requests to delete that data. However, rating results that are in the public domain are not private information and SIRA reserves the right to maintain this data as well as anonymised data being used for statistical purposes to improve the service.
SIRA’s commitments
All approaches to protecting your data will follow SIRA’s Commitments. In the unlikely event of any conflict your statutory rights and the data protection policies will take priority.
